    Snap the label and Lookt reads the lot code and best-by date for you. Text recognition runs on your phone, and the photo is never uploaded.

Do I need an account to scan?

No. Scanning a barcode or lot code and browsing the recall feed need no account. An account is only needed to save items to your Pantry.

Does “No recall found” mean the food is safe?

No. It means we found no matching recall in the sources we checked at that moment. Always follow official FDA, USDA and CDC notices over any result in the app.

Which sources does Lookt check?

FDA recall announcements and outbreak investigations, USDA FSIS meat and poultry recall alerts, and CDC outbreak investigations.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone and Android, in the United States. Lookt is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also delete it from a browser, with no app or email needed. See our account deletion page.
